DEPARTMENT: Organizing and Faith Engagement

REPORTS TO: Strategist for Pan African and Orthodox Faith Engagement

SEMESTER: Summer (June 2 - August 29, 2025)

SCHEDULE: Full Time: 30 hours per week

PRIMARY PURPOSE: The intern will work with the strategist for Pan African and orthodox faith engagement to support organizing and planning efforts for the Pan African Consultation/Advocacy Summit event in June; and use a Pan African lens with public policy efforts and advocacy priorities relative to ending hunger and addressing poverty issues.

Primary responsibilities for this role will include a combination of the following:

Assist with planning, implement and follow up with Pan African communities/leaders/presenters at Advocacy Summit including work groups and coalitions (i.e. NOF, Debt Relief, Climate Justice, Denominational Leaders, Congregational leaders, IAT).
Support the strategist and the Communications team with organizing data files and conducting interviews with Pan African leaders.
Assist with organizing and advocacy follow up with Pan African Consultation attendees.
Conduct a survey and make phone calls to determine future interest of Pan African leaders at Summit and Organizers.
Conduct phone interviews with the Communications team for 50th Anniversary activities.
Identifying contributions and possible contributions from Pan African leaders with Development staff.
Participate in department meetings and assist with special projects as requested.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

Pursuing a bachelor or master level degree.
Experience with Pan African issues and perspectives.
Experience in a church context or with some religion classes or training.
Be detail-oriented, flexible, organized and able to meet deadlines.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite, database software and Internet research.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills (written, oral, and electronic).
Willingness to learn.
Commitment to the mission of Bread for the World.
