Polystyrene Cell Viability Standards

About Us

With years of experience in the pharmaceutical and life science sectors, CD Bioparticles has announced the launch of its new high-precision Polystyrene Cell Viability Standards. These microspheres can provide researchers and laboratory professionals with reliable and highly reproducible tools in biological cell controls for instrument calibration and assay validation.

CD Bioparticles offers multiple products to address different assay needs, including Trypan Blue Exclusion Standards (e.g., viability standard microspheres and concentration standard microspheres), Fluorescence Reference Standards (for confirming channel sensitivity and performance in fluorescence-based assays), and Compensation Standards (for ensuring accurate multicolor analysis).

"These standards establish a cell viability measurement system that transcends instruments, laboratories, and time, which can ensure scientists' lab results are consistent, repeatable, and standardized. This enables researchers to obtain more credible and comparable experimental data," explained CD Bioparticles' Chief Scientist. "Their versatility makes them suitable for research training, assay development, and regulated quality control environments."

For example, CD Bioparticles offers the 25% Viability Standard Microspheres (Cat. No. CVCM-02), which are a mixture of 25% viable and 75% non-viable microsphere surrogates. They contain populations of single or mixed viable and non-viable microsphere surrogates. These materials are specially formulated to mimic samples of healthy and damaged cells stained with trypan blue. They are designed as standards for image-based cell health and density measurement systems and ensure accurate and consistent results across instruments through the principle of trypan blue exclusion. These materials offer exceptional stability and reproducibility.

The 25% Viability Standard Microspheres are designed for imaging analysis instruments that rely on trypan blue exclusion staining. They can serve as a reference standard material. These products are suitable for validating and controlling the quality of imaging-based cell viability analyzers and can be used for cell cycle analysis, cell viability detection, and flow cytometer calibration.

Another example is the DiagPoly™ Viability Dye Compensation Standard Microspheres, 4 μm (Cat. No. CVCM-28), supplied at approximately 1E+7 beads/mL. These microspheres are designed for use with stains or other amine-reactive dyes to create compensation controls for flow cytometry. However, they are not compatible with DNA dyes, such as propidium iodide and DAPI. They are applicable for labeling with dyes or other amine-reactive dyes to generate compensation standards for flow cytometry analysis.

Integrating these standards into routine workflows allows laboratories to effectively monitor instrument performance, validate new operating procedures, and ensure the reproducibility of complex experiments in fields such as oncology, immunology, and toxicology. CD Bioparticles' Polystyrene Cell Viability Standards are available for global shipping.
