ASA is seeking a strategic thinker and collaborator to discover opportunities, form partnerships, and lead an exceptionally talented team to bring the On Aging Institute to life and grow it over the next 3 years.
About the Job:
The American Society on Aging’s (ASA) On Aging Institute (OAI) seeks an Executive Director to provide the vision & strategy for the education delivered through the On Aging Institute. With expertise in capacity-building and organizational resilience, the executive director will ensure the Institute is positioned as the premier educational home for ASA’s multidisciplinary membership, aging-focused organizations, as well as emerging leaders working across all intersections with aging. The Executive Director will spearhead partnerships and strategies tailored to meet the needs of stakeholders in aging and will manage the team who executes this vision. The position has grant funding for up to three years.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide visionary leadership of the OAI for strategic growth through partnerships and innovation.
- Work alongside the Vice President of Membership, Programs, and Thought Leadership to craft goals and outcomes for the OAI.
- Build and oversee a strategy for the OAI calendar and catalog of courses.
- Manage subcontracts and faculty relationships, ensuring quality deliverables and collaboration.
- Construct and nurture partnerships with key stakeholders to secure financial support and sustainability for the OAI.
- Oversee the evaluation and monitoring of all courses.
- Collaborate with ASA’s operation team to ensure support for the OAI virtual space and marketing.
- Lead and provide supervisorial, management, and mentorship support to the OAI team.
- Work closely with the Equity Strategy Director to ensure ASA’s commitment to equity is woven through all courses.
- Lead by example and embody the desired culture and values of the organization.

We believe a successful OAI Executive Director will have:
- Demonstrated experience building transformative partnerships in academic, non-profit, and/or educational environments.
- Senior-level, likely operational-level professional experience in aging-related education and/or program design or delivery.
- Excellent public speaking and group convening skills.
- Ability to make presentations and present proposals and recommendations clearly, logically and persuasively to diverse audiences.
- Strong financial and budget acumen
