The Director of Community Impact plays a pivotal role in these efforts, leading grantmaking strategies and supports nonprofits in designing and implementing high-impact programs, services, and resources that make a measurable difference in Broward County.
Job Description
This position within the Community Impact Department provides leadership to advance the Foundation’s priority areas. Core responsibilities include developing and leading community initiatives and providing high-quality grantmaking to support the Foundation’s goals. This position seeks an individual that is goal-oriented and results-driven with a proven track record in program management and working effectively with community-based organizations. Experience working in a complex organization with colleagues across multiple departments and working with various levels of organizational leadership internally and externally is critical to success in this role.
This position reports to the Senior Director of Community Impact.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, master’s preferred.
- Minimum 6 years of high-level relative work experience with a concentration on project development and management, community outreach and engagement across diverse communities, data collection, measurement, and evaluation, working with senior leadership to advance an agenda, grants administration/ management, and compliance with strongly preferred experience with a Foundation or grantor/donor agency (as opposed to a grantee/recipient agency).
- Demonstrated ability to create and implement innovative and creative strategies that lead to improved nonprofit organizational effectiveness and/or community impact; have a strong desire and ability to build solid trusted relationships and is an effective team builder and team player.
- Possess impressive communication skills that can influence decision-making, build consensus, and engage the community at various levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, and SharePoint and inclined to learn new databases and technology platforms.
Job Responsibilities

Build momentum around Foundation priority grantmaking areas that result in the submission of high-quality proposals that demonstrate the greatest impact. This includes pre-application assistance to nonprofits in preparing grant proposals, disseminating RFP and application materials, hosting grant information workshops, handling grant applications, and creating spaces for dialogue amongst potential applicants to foster collaboration.

Create and implement grant strategies that align with grant priority areas and communicate them effectively with stakeholders. Must be a subject matter expert on community issues and grantmaking trends (local, state, and national) to produce cutting-edge grant programs that make the most impact.

Recommend solutions that deepens impact and advances the Foundation’s agenda by researching to identify important issues, developing new ideas, and programs, and presenting rationale to internal and external stakeholders about why and how the Foundation can make the greatest impact or achieve the most significant outcomes on the issue.

Manage grant review process for assigned focus areas, engaging committee members (as needed) and making grant recommendations for review by the Senior Director of Community Impact and VP of Community Impact, and then for committee and board approval.

Advance the Foundation’s mission by representing the Foundation in a positive and professional manner in the community and at Foundation events. This includes serving on community committees, attending special events, and convening leaders as it relates to the advancement of the priority areas and initiatives.

Position Foundation as a knowledge center and leader on community issues by using various communication tools and strategies to share insights and impact being made in assigned portfolio. This includes but is not limited to drafting community impact briefs, and other communication to frame our position and action on addressing issues.

Establish, build, and maintain strong and trusted relationships with nonprofits and community leaders, convene them around issues through strategic engagement opportunities that uplift the communities’ voices on issues that matter most to make a sustainable and systemic impact.

Ensure quality control of donor intent on grants from assigned portfolio of charitable Funds.

Monitor, track, evaluate, & report grant impact internally & externally. Use grant evaluation to drive data-driven decision-making.

Produce collateral for Community Impact department, staff, committees, and board on grants, programs, etc.

Support Foundation’s fundraising efforts by identifying additional revenue and partnership opportunities and helping with solicitation, grant writing, and other activities to increase operational and grantmaking funds.

Cooperate with fellow Directors in all aspects of department work to ensure a high-performance and in the achievement of Foundation goals.
