Help Immigrants Change Their Lives Through a Free English Tutoring Program
Who We Are
Redwood ESL is a growing nonprofit that provides free online English tutoring to immigrants across the United States. We recruit and train volunteer tutors, match them with English learners, and create meaningful one-on-one connections that help people build confidence, find better jobs, and thrive in their communities.
We’re a small, collaborative team with big goals—and we’re just getting started.
Who You Are
You’re organized and compassionate, and you love working with people. You live in the U.S. and enjoy interviewing applicants, solving scheduling puzzles, and keeping lots of moving pieces running smoothly. You’re comfortable making logical and thoughtful decisions, communicating with kindness, and using technology to stay organized.
If spreadsheets and ensuring data accuracy don’t scare you, maintaining calendars makes you happy, and you want your work to make a real difference, we’d love to meet you.

- Conduct 1:1 virtual screening interviews with ESL learner candidates and tutor candidates using sound judgment and empathy.
- Match English learners with volunteer tutors to ensure healthy and productive learning relationships are formed.
- Coordinate schedules, introductory meetings, and program communications.
- Manage calendars, email, and program data using both Google Workspace and Airtable CRM.
- Support surveys, projects, and day-to-day program operations.
